2013 AGE GROUP OVERVIEWS:
SCOOPERS ( Boys born between 9/1/2005 and 8/31/2008 )
The goal is to introduce and develop the fundamentals of the game in a fun environment and build continuity into the program at an early age. The Scoopers program will begin with skills training in the early sessions and will evolve into a 6 v 6 format on a half sized field without goalies as the season progresses. Every player will rotate throughout the field of play in order to gain exposure at each position. Boys ages 4-5 years old will be placed in House Scoopers and boys 6-7 years old will be participating in a Scoopers Travel ( local ) league. U9 CLINIC ( Boys born between 9/1/2003 and 8/31/2005 )
The emphasis is high on instruction and less on competition. Games are played on a modified-sized field and rules are slightly modified to eliminate heavy contact. One coach from each team are on the field during games and there will be one referee for games. Games are played in various locations throughout Anne Arundel County primarily on Saturday and some games during the week. U11 PEE WEE ( Boys born between 9/1/2001 and 8/31/2003 )
The emphasis at the "Pee Wee" level is still instructional, with a small shift to competition. It is the goal of the program (AA County Guidelines) to have all teams of equal talent. However, there will be one Select or A team this year per the County from each program. The remaining players will be split evenly amongst Crofton teams. Games are played with nearly all the normal rules with the exception of modified extra man and man down situations. Games are played throughout the county primarily on weekends and some games during the week, and are refereed by county officials. Coaches are NOT allowed on the field. MIDGET ( Boys born between 9/1/1999 and 8/31/2001 )
Basic skills are still taught to all players and many beginners start playing lacrosse at this level. Crofton will field teams to compete in all divisions of play in the county. Teams are broken out on a skill and a thleticism, AA/A; B, and C. All aspects of the game are played at this level. Games are played throughout Anne Arundel County primarily on weekends with some weeknight games. The season ends with County and State Championship games for the top teams. JUNIORS ( Boys born between 9/1/1997 and 8/31/1999 )
The program is open to players of all level of ability, including beginners. Crofton will field teams to compete in all divisions of play in the county. Teams are broken out on a skill and a thleticism, AA/A; B, and C. All aspects of the game are played at this level. Games are played throughout Anne Arundel County primarily on weekends with some weeknight games. The season ends with County and State Championship games for the top teams.
